Whether we are religious or not, we’ve all made messes along the way. We’ve all thought, my life is a mess. So, let’s talk about it.
THE OLD TESTAMENT…
If you think it’s just a mysterious, outdated book, think again! It’s the Bible Jesus read, used, and loved.
Bring a friend and explore these sometimes shocking, often cryptic divine writings. You will come to know God more intimately, anticipate Jesus more fervently, and find a wonderful, wise companion for your faith journey.
Based on Philip Yancey’s book, The Bible Jesus Read.
On Wednesday night, June 15th, WatsNaz will launch a unique weekly experience for which we have no name or good explanation. It will be a church service minus the singing and the rows of chairs facing a preacher who preaches and you all just be quiet and listen. But it won’t really be a “small group” either.
Participants will first gather with friends around tables to just have some fun table competition. It might be a PowerPoint game or some other relational activity that will simply “break the ice.”
We will then hear a short 10 minute introduction to the topic/passage/message that was given the previous Sunday followed by “round table” discussions around related Bible passages and ideas/topics printed on handouts at each table. Anyone can facilitate the discussion. No degrees necessary.
The evening’s M.C. will then wrap things up with folks at different tables sharing insights discussed at their table in an open mic kind of setting. Kind of a “user-generated” lesson.
In a nutshell we will be a priesthood of believers sharing life together. Coffee bar will be operating outside with some hot tunes playing to allow for early arrivals and late departures who just want to talk or hang out together.
Spread the word with “Likes” and “Shares.” Whether you want to call it “church” or your “small group” is your call. Bring your smart phones and tablets as we will include those friends “outside the walls” in our opening games and discussions. There will be no silencing of phones!
Following Jesus in a selfie-centered world.
As you scroll through your day, does it feel like everyone else has it all together? Someone always has the best job, cutest kid, or happiest relationship. We’re pressured to measure up to other people’s social media status updates and left with more #struggles.
This five-week series studies what it’s like to live a Christ-focused life in a selfie-centered world. Topics include finding compassion, authenticity, relationships, contentment, and rest among all the pressures and distractions of our social media saturated world. Starts Sunday, May 15th.
